Dairy cattle and dairy goats
The feeding of dairy cows
and goats is very important. It has a direct effect on the herd’s milk
production. Depending on the cow’s lactation stage, its dietary needs change.
That is why it is important to provide exactly the right kind of hay at every lactation stage.
Owners of dairy
cows and goats herd like legumes such as alfalfa, clover and birdsfoot trefoil for
their high energy and protein level. During the milking period, cows and goats need a big amount of protein and energy to produce a milk with a good compisition in term of butterfat and protein and in a good quantity. And than, during the dry period, they need less energy, so grasses hay could be perfect for them.
Because we were dairy producer before, we know a lot of things about feeding cows and we can provide the good type of hay, all year long and for almost all quantity needed.
We also have hay for sheeps, buffle and any other animal eating hay!
Horses
Hay served to horses provides energy, protein, fiber
and minerals. Alfalfa is generally higher in protein but it can have a laxative
affect in horses. That’s why most farmers prefer to use a mixture of alfalfa
and grasses such as bromine or orchard grass. It is also very important to note
that horses need a lot of energy, regardless of their discipline. We demand
that our horse performs. For him to do so he must first have a nutritious diet.
The lower the hay is in protein, fiber and minerals, the more supplements the
horses will need to take to fill for the low energy hay.
The respiratory
system of horses is very sensitive. The lungs of horses are very fragile and
are the leading cause of disease in these animals. It is very important that
the horses do not breathe dust, that’s why they need the best quality hay
possible.
Lower quality
hay will be conducive to the development of microorganisms mold, due to the
moisture at harvest. When the mold has developed, they move through the air
like dust. Therefore wen the hay is handled and when the animals eat, these
molds appear to be dust. The animals breathe some and it gets lodge in their
respiratory system.
Our experience,
our knowledge and awareness for the health of horses allow us to produce
quality products with the capacity to meet their nutritional needs.
